Thanks to the new services offered for the summer, the main coastal or mountain resorts of Italy will be easily reachable with the means made available by the FS Group.

The new summer timetables will start from Sunday 11 June. There will be more trains for summer tourist destinations, while there will be new integrated travel solutions by train, bus, ship and plane for ever more gentle, intermodal and sustainable transport. In total they are over 10.000 connections per day by train ecabout 19.000 trips by bus between Italy and Europe offered by the Polo Passeggeri of the FS Group for traveling in the name of sustainability, combined with comfort and safety.

Frecciarossa offers: the new connections

Trenitalia will offer more than 250 Frecciarossa trains a day, with over 120.000 places available. They will be serve more than 120 destinations throughout the country, including seaside resorts, mountains and cities of art. In particular, the connections between Milan and Naples will be strengthened, with a total of 68 Frecciarossa trains per day and over 30.000 seats available. The cMilan-Rome connection, one of the most important for company traffic, will benefit from 4 additional Frecciarossa trains per day, for a total of 94 daily connections and over 45.000 seats available. Expand the runs between the main cities of the Center-North and the South with 32 Arrows a day which will connect Milan/Venice/Turin/Bologna and Puglia and 13 Arrows a day to and from Rome, with the doubling of seats in the bands and days with the greatest demand. In particular, the Calabria will be closer in Milan, Rome, Venice and all the big Italian cities: 8 Frecciarossa connections per day direct between Milan and Reggio Calabria to which will also be added the Milan-Reggio Calabria night Frecciarossa trains on days with the highest mobility. The offer of train connections is enriched with those on road thanks to over 20 Freccialinks which, especially on weekends, will reach some of the most beautiful seaside and mountain locations.

The new Intercity and regional connections

THEoffer of Intercity trains will be further expanded, with over 120 trains a day, including 24 Intercity Notte, which will cover a vast range of destinations. During the summer, they will be introduced new stops, an increase of 42% over the previous year. In addition, six new connections will be added to some locations on the Costa degli Dei (Calabria) and a new weekend connection between Milan and Savona. For mountain lovers, the extension of the service to Bardonecchia, which has achieved great success during the winter period, will be proposed again. There will also be 40 daily Eurocity connections and 8 Euronight connections between Italy, Austria and Germany, with stops at the main towns on the Adriatic Riviera.

As regards the regional trainsi, new services will be introduced in several Italian regions, including Piedmont, Friuli Venezia-Giulia, Lazio, Campania, Puglia, Sicily and Sardinia. Connections will be intensified to facilitate the discovery of over 1.700 Italian locations, both by train and by combining train and bus. Furthermore, the regional train fleet will be further improved with the addition of new Blues, Rock and Pop hybrid trains.

Busitalia and Ferrovie del Sud Est offers

The summer offer of the Polo Passeggeri is enriched also thanks to Busitalia e South Eastern Railways. Busitalia will offer more 9.700 bus rides per day, with 53 new buses already in service and another 170 to be added later this year. South Eastern Railways it will guarantee 260 trips a day, offering 80.000 seats a day to reach the towns of Puglia. The Trullilink allows you to connect the towns of Valle D'Itria with Bari both on weekdays and holidays, the Grottelink with 16 buses on weekdays and 4 on holidays, connects the regional capital comfortably with the Caves of Castellana and Salentolink for the main localities of the Adriatic and Ionian Salento.

New travel solutions for animals

Finally, Trenitalia confirms its attention to needs of four-legged friends. Dogs will be able to travel for free on the Frecce until 15 September and on the Intercity until 5 September. In addition, the "dog on tour" offer will be available on regional trains, which will allow you to bring your dog on a leash on an unlimited number of journeys.

THEintermodality becomes the central theme of summer 2023 of the Polo Passeggeri of the FS Group, offering a more complete and integrated journey planning. Attention to sustainability

THEattention to sustainability it is another of the fundamental pillars of the summer offer. Bikes are increasingly used, +25% compared to previous years. Therefore, around 26.000 bike spaces will be available per day on regional, Intercity and Eurocity trains, with a 30% increase in bookings compared to 2022. Furthermore, a new catering service on board the trains, which is committed to ensuring maximum comfort and taste for passengers, with particular attention to sustainability in the choice of packaging and raw materials. Even trains are increasingly greener as they are produced between 90 and 95% with recycled products.

225 million passengers in the first five months of the year
