Opificio Golinelli: photographic exhibition on how Bologna is changing

Thirty-six images to tell the changes in Bologna in the area of the city that looks north-west, the one between the Borgo Panigale Reno and Navile districts. He inaugurated the photographic exhibition at Opificio Golinelli (via Paolo Nanni Costa, 14). Education, conceived and designed by Golinelli Foundation, in collaboration with the University of Bologna.

Giovanni's 18 photographs Bortolani and the same number of Salvatore Mirabella they illustrate the building itinerary undertaken in the last two years by the two institutions operating in the field of training, research and innovation. Challenging construction sites that involved, on the one hand, the displacement of an entire sector
didactic-scientific of the Alma Mater with the project of the new University of Chemistry and Astronomy in the Navile district in front of the CNR and, on the other, the rise of Opificio Golinelli, recently enriched by the Arts and Sciences Center designed by the architect Mario Cucinella, in via Paolo Nanni Costa.

The exhibition, therefore, responds to the need to enhance the effort put in place by the Foundation
Golinelli and Alma Mater and at the same time to pose new reflections on this sector of the city which, as already announced, will see the birth by 2018 of the Golinelli Foundation incubator and the Industry 4.0 Competence Center. Opificio Golinelli thus lays the foundations for becoming a real infrastructure for the knowledge and culture: in one year, the expansion works will reach a total of 14 thousand square meters and the useful surfaces covered for the activities will be almost 10 thousand. Opificio Golinelli's goal is to become a city of knowledge and culture, a center dedicated to education in an integrated way,
training, culture, research and business, the first and only experience of this kind in Italy and Europe.

“There is no doubt that these two creations are destined to affect not only the logistic and modal aspects – induced by a crowd of hundreds of thousands of students, professors, pupils and visitors who now gravitate towards this district every year and which is destined to increase – but on the same identity profile as this one
section of the city, potentially qualifying it as the Pole that most tends to be characterized by innovation – explains the president of the Golinelli Foundation, Andrea Zanotti – The establishment of the MAST in this strategic area and the hand of architects known for their propensity and attention to the issues of
urban regeneration, can be interpreted as further indications of a possible common design to amplify and enhance. In the same direction of travel is placed the complete shift of a
a large part of the Engineering School at the Lazzaretto; and conspires to place another decisive piece in this puzzle that is forming the next launch of a fast link between the railway station and the airport, the People mover.

It is, on closer inspection, a declination of the very reason for which the University of Bologna was born; and it is, at the same time, the same reason why Opificio Golinelli operates in synergy. And it is a birthright that still has wide intellectual margins for expansion and vast spaces in which to exercise the future, first of all that represented by the Prati di Caprara”.
