Open Meter, Enel's 2.0 electronic meters arrive

When fully operational, the installation works will involve approximately 250 external companies, involving a total of four thousand technicians throughout the country. E-Distribuzione is the first energy distributor in the world to have developed the latter
generation of the remote management system. Thanks to Open Meter, the customer will improve awareness of their consumption

Open Meter, Enel's 2.0 electronic meters arrive

Since last June E-Distribuzione, the company that carries out the electricity distribution and metering service in Italy, has already installed more than one million Open Meters, the 2.0 electronic meters.

The new meter, the result of a process that takes into account the technological evolution in the field of metering and remote management, will gradually replace the first generation electronic meter, as required by the legislation on the subject set out by the Electricity Authority, the gas and water system (Aeegsi).

The Open Meter, designed by the architect Michele de Lucchi and entirely designed in Italy, is inspired by the principle of open, accessible, technologically advanced and, above all, sustainable energy.

The Enel group company proceeds at a rate of 7000 devices installed per day. This is an important first step in the plan launched by E-Distribuzione, which will lead to an increase in the number of counters, reaching 32 million Italian homes and businesses.

The installation of the new E-Distribuzione meters will allow Italian customers, without tariff increases, to improve awareness of their consumption, have access to new services and, in the future, actively participate in the new energy market.
