A montemesola, in the province of Taranto, is the new public network is operational of ultra-broadband telecommunications. Open Fiber, the company responsible for the construction of the FTTH fiber infrastructure controlled by Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (Cdp), has the work to create the network infrastructure was completed, which allows citizens, businesses and professionals to access the Internet with effective and cutting-edge performance. The intervention focused in particular on less densely populated areas and so far without ultra-fast connectivity.
1.546 real estate units connected to the fiber in FTTH
The ultra-fast network in Montemesola it will serve 1.546 real estate units through FTTH technologies (Fiber-to-the-home, optical fiber up to buildings) e FWA (Fixed Wireless Access). The latter uses optical fiber to connect radio base stations, reaching scattered real estate units in areas with low population density. Among the buildings covered are the "Bonaventura Enriquez" nursery school, the "De Amicis" primary school, the "Giovanni Pascoli" secondary school, the Carabinieri barracks, the Town Hall, the Continuity of Care center and the cemetery.
Work continues on the Bul plan
The implementation of the ultra-fast network is a strategic investment for the digitalisation of the territory, without financial impacts for the Municipality. The work is part of the strategic investment for the digitalisation of the territory. The infrastructure was financed through regional and state funds, as part of the Ultra Broadband Plan (BUL), managed by Infratel Italy (company of the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy), with the supervision of the Puglia Region.
The fiber installation was efficient thanks to innovative and sustainable excavation techniques that allow Open Fiber to reuse pre-existing infrastructure.
“Thanks to the FTTH network and the Open Fiber cabling project, Montemesola is equipped with an ultra broadband network capable of delivering ever-increasing volumes of data traffic, allowing for fast and enabling use of connections for smart working, streaming of HD content, online purchases and access to remote public administration services” he explained Riccardo Nardelli, field manager of Open Fiber.
