Open Fiber, the company that deals with the construction of the FTTH fiber infrastructure controlled by Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (Cdp), has completed the construction of a new network of over 45 kilometers a Radda in Chianti, in the Province of Siena. The company also announced that have completed the work of the network infrastructure it allows 1036 real estate units between citizens, businesses and professionals Municipality of Balvano in the province of Potenza to "access the Internet with effective and cutting-edge services". The intervention focused in particular on less densely populated areas and so far without ultra-fast connectivity.

Ultra-fast network in Radda in Chianti

The service, already operational for residents, covers areas such as Radda in Chianti, Collepetroso, Villa, Selvole, Volpaia, Badiaccia a Montemuro, Castelvecchi and Castello di Albola.

Thanks to the Open Fiber initiative, now, the residents of the small villages in the province of Siena will finally have access to ultra-broadband. This service, created in “white areas” identified in the Infratel tenders, has received the support of the Tuscany Region and aims to bridge the digital divide, offering fast connections even outside the big cities.

1.000 connected real estate units

Thanks to the new network they were connected further 1.000 real estate units in various locations. The infrastructure will remain publicly owned and will be managed by Open Fiber under concession for the next 20 years. In the context of the project, 12 points of interest for the community were connected, including the Municipality, the library, the theatre, the proloco, the nursery, the Carabinieri station, the health centre, the middle school and the police municipal.

“Thanks to the support of the municipal administration and the Tuscany Region we are happy to have completed the works in Radda in Chianti” – he commented Marco Gasparini, Regional Manager of Open Fiber Tuscany -. “Citizens finally have an ultra-broadband network that is up to the challenges of the future”.

“We have reached the conclusion of this project, which is very important for our community, even more so in a society where connectivity represents the present and the future both for the economic, work and study aspects and for the development of tourism, and for the future of proximity medicine” – declared the mayor Pier Paolo Mugnaini – “Thanks to the collaboration between the administration, the Tuscany Region, Open Fiber and our fellow citizens we have overcome many obstacles and completed the project two months ahead of schedule”.
