Open Fiber brings ultra-fast fiber also to the municipality of Viterbo. Thanks to the work started a few months ago in the Lazio municipality, the people of Viterbo will now have access to the Fiber to the home (FTTH) network, or fiber to the house in Italian. This network will be the only one able to enable and guarantee all the latest generation digital services and will be able to reach a connection speed of 10 Gigabits per second.
This ultra-fast connection it will bring various advantages, especially for people who work in Smart working, for teleworking, video surveillance, online streaming up to digital public administration services.
Open Fiber is a "wholesale only" operator: it is so called because it belongs to that group of companies that do not sell their services directly to the final customer but only on the wholesale market. Interested citizens can use the service by contacting an operator, via the Open Fiber website, and choose the tariff plan.
Once the plan has been selected, when the user makes a request, the contacted operator will call Open Fiber which will connect the optical fiber from the road manhole to the home. Once the operation is completed, the user will be able to navigate at the speed of 10 Gigabit per second, speed impossible to achieve with copper or mixed fiber-copper networks, thus having access to services such as online streaming in 4K and HD and many other opportunities generated by the FTTH network, thus bringing about a real digital revolution.
