As anticipated yesterday, the CEO of Open Fiber, Tommaso Pompei, has tendered his resignation, which will take effect from January 2018, XNUMX and, in his place, the board of directors of the company - controlled by Enel and Cassa deposits and loans – has appointed Elisabetta Ripa, former director of the company. This is what is stated in a concise official statement from Open Fiber at the end of an extraordinary board of directors which took note of the end of the Pompeii era and of his resignation, due to disagreements with the shareholders and with the president Franco Bassanini in progress for months already.

Ripa, Open Fiber writes in a note, was previously part of the Telecom group with positions of increasing responsibility in business development, international development and finance. In 2011 she was appointed Head of the Mobile Services Division (TIM) and subsequently Chief Executive Officer of the Sparkle Group. In the two-year period 2015-2016 you were CEO of Telecom SA., a leading company in telecommunications and digital services in South America. Highly respected in the telecommunications world, la ripa is also an independent director of Autogrill as well as Open Fiber.

The handover with Pompeii - underlines Open Fiber - marks the conclusion of a start-up phase of the company which in less than a year saw the start of construction sites in over 50 large Italian cities in areas A and B, the awarding of the first two Infratel tenders for the construction of a public fiber optic infrastructure in 6.753 Municipalities in areas C and D (the first construction sites for which have been opened in recent weeks). In the same period, Open Fiber began experimenting with 5G, advanced in the definition of project financing in support of the company's industrial plan and structured a framework of commercial partnerships with some of the main telecommunications operators in the country.
