The ultra-fast fiber arrives in Cosenza. Open Fiber has brought the connection up to 1 gigabit per second to over 8 properties located in the Calabrian city and will soon reach over 39 homes, shops and offices included in the cabling plan in FTTH mode (the fiber that reaches homes) for a total of about 650 km of optical fiber.
The company has announced the areas that already have access to the ultra-broadband connection: Piazza Europa, Via Nicola Serra, Via Alberto Serra, Via Pasquale Rossi, Via Simonetta, Corso Luigi Fera, a portion of Viale della Repubblica and Via Panebianco, Via Caloprese, Via Misasi and Via delle Medaglie d'oro.
While work continues, however, one thing must be underlined: Open Fiber is a wholesale-only operator, which means that it does not sell fiber to end customers, but takes care of infrastructure and activities on the wholesale market, offering access to all interested operators. Tiscali, Fibra City, Vodafone and Wind Tre will therefore be the telecommunications operators to deal with the marketing of ultra-broadband fibre. "In the coming months - underlines the company led by Elisabetta Ripa - other operators will begin to provide services using the Open Fiber FTTH infrastructure".
