Open Fiber brings ultra-fast fiber to Benevento

Open Fiber brings ultra-fast fiber to Benevento. There are 7.500 properties designed to surf the web with a connection speed of up to 1 Gigabit per second. The optical fiber operator has also finalized the work and progress plan for the BUL Plan with Infratel.

The ultra-broadband network is available in large areas of the historic center and the Ferrovia, Libertà and Mellusi-Atlantici districts.

The works will continue. The goal of the company led by Elisabetta Ripa is to reach around 20 homes, shops and offices included in the cabling plan in FTTH (Fiber To The Home) mode drawn up for Benevento and thanks also to the agreement stipulated with the Municipality, it is laying around 12 thousand km of optical fiber for the construction of a new infrastructure capable of enabling a secure and ultra-fast connection. To do this, Open Fiber has allocated approximately 7 million euros of its own funds of a private nature.

“This is an important step forward for the city – underline the mayor Clement Mastella and the councilor for innovation Maria Carmela Mignone – made possible by the close synergy established some time ago with Open Fiber and in line with the growth objectives that we have set ourselves for the not only technological development of Benevento. Being able to benefit from ultra-broadband, especially in a moment like the present one, means staying connected to the rest of the world by traveling on a hundred-lane motorway”.

Remaining in the Open Fiber house, the company lets it be known that joint working groups with Infratel on the testing activities of the fiber works and on the design activities, they concluded the initial works respecting the deadlines set by the Ultra-Broadband Committee (Cobul).

"Accelerate and simplify the implementation of the ultra-broadband project in the white areas: with these objectives in mind, the joint Infratel-Open Fiber work has developed new tools through which to optimize the network design activity and, as regards testing, make the production of the necessary documentation and the monitoring of the progress of the works more efficient, as hoped by Cobul in order to speed up the execution of a strategic infrastructure for the country", he declared Eleonora Fratesi, president Infratel.

The two companies finally agreed to build a constant monitoring of projects, of the progress of the design and of the progress of the documentary and field activities to maximize both the number of Municipalities in which to start the works, and the number of tests during 2020.
