La ultra-fast network grows in Campania A service, no longer just for the big cities but also for the "white areas" object of the three Infratel tenders, with the economic contribution of the Regions involved, an infrastructure that aims to reduce the digital divide by providing connectivity services to ultra-broadband in over 8,5 million homes throughout Italy. Thus, thanks to the Open Fiber project, the inhabitants of Aquilonia, Ascea, Caggiano, Casal Velino, Forino, Limatola, Montecalvo Irpino, Padula, Sanza, San Valentino Torio and Villa di Briano will also be able to surf at a speed never reached before, with the fiber optics that arrive directly in homes, schools, companies and public offices.
In the 11 locations in Campania, Open Fiber has built a new network extending overall for over 250 kilometres: in total there are currently 32.500 real estate units connected through an infrastructure that will remain publicly owned and will be managed under concession by Open Fiber for 20 years. The company's plan for white areas involves over 7 municipalities throughout Italy.
There are also 115 public offices reached by the new ultra-broadband network, starting with schools and health facilities. Without forgetting central and branch municipal offices, libraries, museums, carabinieri barracks and firefighters. To which they will be added to the already wired locations with a high historical-cultural value: above all the Certosa di Padula and Velia Archaeological Park in Ascea, both Unesco World Heritage Sites.
