Open Fiber bring the ultrafast fiber in the Lazio province of Rieti. The company communicated it, specifying that the works foresee the installation of over 110 kilometers of fiber optics, for a total investment of 6,5 million euros.

Once the project is done, the connection speed should go up to 1 Gbps (Gigabits per second) in FTTH (Fiber To The Home) mode, i.e. with the optical fiber which for the first time will enter directly into homes, schools, companies and public offices.

At the moment, the operators that can provide connectivity to Rieti are the following:

  • Tiscali
  • Vodafone
  • Wind Three
  • LAN CD
  • Europe Energy
  • Fiber City
  • Melita
  • MICSO QFIBER

Open Fiber ensures that other operators will join later.

By 2020, the service will be available for purchase 18 thousand homes.

“The advantages of an ultra-fast connection will be many – continues the company note – from teleworking to video surveillance, from online streaming to home automation up to digital public administration services”.
