LFrom today, the highly innovative services enabled by ultra-broadband are also available in Ravenna, a city of art and home to eight monuments included in the Unesco heritage: Open Fiber has in fact completed the fiber optic cabling of the first 10mila real estate units in the city, which can thus already benefit from a connection speed of up to 1 Gigabit for second. The company led by Elisabetta Ripa is investing more than 20 million euros, to reach approx 58mila real estate units through a network of 300 kilometres: to date, the first districts already wired are Lido Adriano and Punta Marina, but in the meantime the Open Fiber interventions are proceeding to create a modern and cutting-edge infrastructure.
The advantages of a full fiber network, in mode FTTH (Fiber To The Home, Namely fiber to the house), are numerous and extend to areas such as teleworking, online HD streaming, cloud computing, home automation, video surveillance, environmental monitoring, not to mention access to innovative Public Administration services.
Open Fiber's goal is to create a network that is as pervasive and efficient as possible, which favors the recovery of competitiveness of the "country system" and, in particular, the evolution towards "Industry 4.0". The plan of the company, 50% owned by Enel and Cassa Depositi & Prestiti, provides for the coverage of 271 medium and large Italian cities, as a private operator, and approx 7700 small towns of 20 Regions Italian companies, as concessionaire of public tenders infratel. Thanks to the optical fiber of Open Fiber, houses, condominiums, schools, offices, companies and public administration structures will speed up the digitization process, simplifying and improving citizens' lives and increasing the productivity and competitiveness of businesses.
Fiber.City is the company that was the first to market services on the Open Fiber network for the municipality of Ravenna. The initiative is supported by a communication campaign Fiber.City with local billboards, social media activities and dedicated material, reserved for the sales outlets in Ravenna. In the coming months, other operators of our partners will join a Fiber.City.
