The optical fiber also arrives in the small municipalities of the Marche region, where citizens will now be able to navigate at a connection speed of 1 Gigabit per second thanks to the network FTTH di Open Fiber, carried out within the tenders infratel.
The marketing starts from Montalto delle Marche. In the white areas (outlying areas and rural villages) of the Marche region, Open Fiber is building an infrastructure entirely in optical fiber in FTTH mode (Fiber To The Home, the fiber that reaches homes and businesses) which will remain public property and will be managed by the company under concession for 20 years. The OF cabling plan in the Region involves 360 thousand real estate units in 236 Municipalities. The total investment is 90 million euro. Open Fiber has already opened construction sites in 147 municipalities.
“Open Fiber is working in all regions of Italy to eliminate the technological differences thanks to the most advanced TLC infrastructure around. Services such as HD streaming, teleworking, home automation, gaming, digital PA will be available to all citizens without distinction, from the metropolis to the most peripheral municipalities" he declared Stefano Paggi, Network&Operations Director of Open Fiber. "Connectivity at 1 Gigabit per second, which is now available to the citizens of Montalto, will soon reach all the municipalities of the white areas of the Marche, thanks also to a fruitful collaboration with the Region".
They have been to Montalto delle Marche wired 986 real estate units with an investment of over 405 thousand euros. Over 75% of the coverage was achieved through the reuse of existing infrastructurewithout the need for excavations. The school building where the presentation event was held is the first location of the PA where the connection service to the Open Fiber network has been activated.
Gradually, the connectivity services will be activated in all the municipalities of the Marche region by the partner operators of Open Fiber, which is a wholesale only operator: does not sell fiber optic services directly to the final customer, but is active exclusively in the wholesale market, offering access to all interested market operators.
Open Fiber is also building an FTTH fiber network in the main urban areas of the Marches, where it operates with private investment. Currently the company, which has completed the infrastructure of Ancona, is at work in Ascoli Piceno, Fabriano and Macerata and will soon begin the cabling of Civitanova Marche, Fano, Pesaro, San Benedetto del Tronto and Senigallia to reach a total of over 183 thousand real estate units with an investment of 51 million euro.
