Open Fiber and Autostrade per l'Italia have signed a memorandum of understanding establishing the creation of a joint company in the form of a consortium for the construction of the ultrafast fiber in Italy and a strategic partnership for the country. The purpose of the agreement is to accelerate the Italian digitization and collaborate in projects that are able to make more money smart cities and streets.
Going into detail, to provide a concrete solution to the shortage of specialized manpower, Open Fiber, the Aspi Group through its subsidiary company for construction Amplia Infrastructures and CIEL, a company specialized in the technological systems sector, have formed a consortium which will be active in completing the fiber optic network that Open Fiber is building in Italy.
“The Consortium, called Open Fiber Network Solutions, provides for the recruitment and training of professionals who will work in the construction of fiber optic telecommunications infrastructure. The Consortium's teams of technicians will be operational from the month of June. When fully operational, the grouping will bring about a thousand people into action”, explain the two companies in a joint note.
Lastly, the agreement between Autostrade per l'Italia and Open Fiber aims to boost i digitization projects infrastructure, roads and networks, through the implementation of initiatives in the field of smart cities, ITS systems (Intelligent Transport Systems), smart roads, e-mobility and, more generally, sustainable and innovative mobility.
“With this partnership – he declares Roberto Tomasi, CEO of Autostrade per l'Italia – a new paradigm is affirming itself: the synergies between the country's major players are the turning point towards the digital transition and the mobility of the future: a step which confirms the central role of Autostrade per l'Italia in the strategic matches for the relaunch of the national development. A role – adds Tomasi – acquired thanks to a robust corporate transformation plan, characterized by a strategic vision aimed at establishing our Group more and more as an integrated mobility manager. The 21.5 billion euro modernization plan already in progress and ASPI's most recent Mercury Program are the prerequisites for a future made of interconnected and sustainable mobility starting from increasingly modern and safe infrastructures. The collaboration implemented today further strengthens our strategy".
“This agreement is the result of sharing an idea of the mobility of the future, to make processes and applications smarter not only in cities and villages, but also on roads, highways and ports. This is part of Open Fiber's strategy which goes beyond the connectivity of homes and industrial districts, with a view to the country's overall digital infrastructure" he commented Mario Rossetti, CEO of Open Fiber. "The consortium that we have put in place is also a response to the shortage of manpower in the telecommunications sector to achieve coverage of those areas of the country that have so far been most penalized by the impossibility of accessing connectivity services".
