OLIVETTI, the future is in digital applications thanks to the merger with Digital Solutions

The "New Olivetti" will start with around 430 people, of whom around 230 from Olivetti and the remainder will come from the merger by incorporation of TIDS (Telecom Italia Digital Solutions). About 300 Olivetti workers will move to Telecom Italia (230) or will be managed with outplacements and early retirements (70)

OLIVETTI, the future is in digital applications thanks to the merger with Digital Solutions

Olivetti presented to the trade unions a restructuring and relaunch plan for the company based on the new 2015-2017 Business Plan focused on a radical transformation of the company through the merger project with Telecom Italia Digital Solutions (TIDS) which will create a single Polo Telecom Italia which will oversee innovation in digital and verticals of strategic interest.

Olivetti and Telecom Italia Digital Solutions already represent, for the Telecom Italia Group, the main poles of supervision in the ICT area for innovative components. In particular, in the Business segment: * Olivetti oversees the creation of specialized hardware solutions and is progressively repositioning itself in the field of integrated digital solutions; * TIDS focuses on the high end of the ICT value chain, promoting the creation and development of PaaS (Platform as a Service), Cloud for SMEs and M2M/IoT (Machine to Machine/Internet of Things) solutions.

The Olivetti Business Plan is developed in two main phases: a) restructuring of Olivetti in 2015; b) merger by incorporation of TIDS and launch of the new corporate structure («Nuova Olivetti»). Olivetti's current workforce is made up of 538 resources. The restructuring plan envisages that around 230 people will move to Telecom Italia while another 70 will be outplaced on a voluntary basis or taken into early retirement, while the remaining 230 workers, as mentioned, will enter Nuova Olivetti. From an industrial point of view, the "New Olivetti" post-merger with TIDS will develop a distinctive positioning of digital skills in particular for SMEs. The plan will be the subject of further discussions with the trade union organisations.
