Olympics, Moioli gold in snowboard cross

Another beautiful Italian medal, the sixth so far at the Pyeongchang Olympics, another all-female gold medal. After Arianna Fontana's gold in the short track, 22-year-old Michela Moioli also takes the top step of the podium in snowboard cross, at the end of a splendid race almost always in the lead, just like Fontana did three days ago.

“I was inspired by her – admitted the athlete from Bergamo commenting on her Olympic victory -. Women are women, we have something extra. Seeing Arianna win inspired me and I said to myself: I don't want silver or bronze, I'm here for the gold”. And so it was: at the Phoenix Snow Park Michela Moioli finished ahead of the French Julia Pereira de Sousa Mabileau and the Czech Eva Samkova.

“I had seen the men's race and I was scared: last night I cried, then I gave myself a self-motivating speech in the shower, I had dinner with my family and I slept peacefully. And today everything was perfect”. Moioli talks about the eve of his Olympic gold and his family is among his first thoughts: "The dedication of this medal goes to them, because it all started from them".

For the blue expedition it is therefore the sixth medal: two gold, one silver and three bronze.
