"Great Britain is ready to welcome the biggest show in the world": Prime Minister David Cameron showed up at 10 Downing Street and solemnly greeted the start of the thirtieth edition of the Summer Olympics, which London will host from tonight to 12 August .
"The sense of excitement is enormous throughout the country - Cameron said again - these two weeks will be incredible for all of us, we will have the opportunity to show the whole world the best of Great Britain, a country with a rich and glorious past but equally exciting future”.
“What will be the British symbol of the Games? – joked the conservative premier – If I have to choose between the pop icon of Blur or the prestige of the Beefeaters (the famous guards of the London Tower), I choose both!”.
