24-hour public transport strike today. Camusso: it is inevitable

Today, Tuesday XNUMX October, is a black day for public transport in various Italian cities. Buses, metro and trams are already stopped due to the strike proclaimed jointly by the trade unions Filt-Cgil-Fit-Cisl, Uiltrasporti, Uglstraporti and Faisa-Cisal, for the non-renewal of the contract.

The leader of the CGIL Susanna Camusso commented on the protest action as follows: “it is a contract that has not been renewed since 2007, it is inevitable to put pressure. [...] The Government has raised excise duties to support public transport but that money has never been seen and the service has worsened".

The first protests, in reality, already started yesterday, precisely from 21 pm for 24 hours: the first to strike were the employees of the railway services for cleaning, night accompaniment and catering on board the train.

Today's strike, however, will take place in different ways depending on the city and in compliance with the guarantee of minimum services and time slots.

Here are the strike times for some cities, including:
Rome: from 8:30 to 17:30; from 20:00 until end of service
Milan from 8:45 to 15; from 18 to end of service
