The weight of the tax wedge in Italy is growing, placing it in sixth place in the related classification drawn up by the OECD in the "Taxing Wages 2012" report. For a single without children, the weight of taxes on wages stood at 47,6% in 2012 against the 35,6% of the OECD average. Between 2000 and 2012 the tax wedge in Italy grew by 0,5%, while in the same period the OECD average showed a decrease of 1,1%.
In the classification relating to the weight of taxes in a family with one income and two children, Italy is instead in fourth position, with a tax wedge of 38,3%.
