OECD: super-index slows down in July (-0,5%), Italy does badly (-0,8%)

Still bad forecasts for the western economy. In July, the OECD super-index recorded a drop of 0,5 points compared to June. This is the fourth consecutive decline. Even on an annual basis, the figure marked a decrease for the euro area as a whole, in this case by 0,1%.

Restricting the field to Italy, the super-index highlighted a monthly drop of 0,8 points in July, and a decline of 3,7 points on an annual basis, the most accentuated among advanced countries. But the real surprise is another: for the first time the heaviest monthly drop (a whole point) concerns Germany. In the annual comparison, the super-index stands at minus 2,5 points.

In any case, the slowdown is general: the OECD underlines that "in Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Great Britain, Brazil, China and India, the data indicate more evident slowdowns in economic activity". Also in the United States, the super-index recorded a heavy drop in July, by 0,6%, but for Washington the annual change remains positive by 1,8 points. Positive annual data also for Japan, by 3,4 points.
