OECD: China has overtaken the Eurozone to become the world's largest economy in 2016

“In a long-term perspective, the China has overtaken the eurozone and is on track to become the world's largest economy circa 2016“. The OECD writes it in its report on the state of the Chinese economy. According to the latest figures released by the organization, the Asian giant is expected to grow by 8,5% in 2013 and 8,9% in 2014, with inflation and export demand likely to be the only major short-term risks .

The OECD is particularly optimistic about investment spending prospects. On the other hand, many analysts expect growth closer to 5% than 10%, while the government's official target for 2013 is +7,5% and +7% on average in the five-year plan up to 2015.

The Chinese economy slowed to a 13-year low in 2012 (+7,8%) due to weak demand from the European Union and the United States, the two largest export customers.
