OECD: inflation slightly recovers in May (+1,5%)

The Paris-based organization released the data on average inflation: the increase to 1,5% in May compared to 1,3% in April is mainly attributable to the rise in energy prices.

Inflation up slightly on average for OECD countries. In May, on an annual basis, it reached +1,5% against +1,3% in April. In a press release, the Parisian organization explains that the acceleration mainly reflects increases in energy prices.

The dynamics of food prices remained stable at 1,9 per cent, i.e. excluding them together with the energy item, the average core inflation of the OECD area stood at 1,5 per cent in May, from 1,4 per cent cent of the previous month. In the euro area, the OECD also reports, inflation stood at 1,4% in May from 1,2% in April.
