Obama, congratulations from Monti: "A non-statist president who understands Europe"

Europeans will find in the White House not the figure of a statist president but that of a president who knows how to use the instruments of the market and the instruments of the state. And above all a president very attentive to internal issues of the United States, who understands Europe and with whom it is nice to work”. These are the words of Prime Minister Mario Monti in an interview with Tg1. The Italian Prime Minister then also sent a letter to Obama after the news of the re-election to the White House:

”Mr. President, dear Barack, I wish to offer you my warmest congratulations on your authoritative confirmation in the White House and at the helm of the American people. I am particularly pleased not only for the deep bond of friendship with which you honor me, but also for the wise and valuable role you have played and continues to play within the international community in times of difficult political, economic and financial circumstances . The trust that the American people wisely wished to renew them will allow the international community, Europe and Italy to benefit seamlessly from your leadership and that extraordinary common sense that I have been able to appreciate since our first meeting at the Casa Bianca of last February and which you, Mr. President, know how to disseminate with rare effectiveness in international fora. With his confirmation in the White House, Italy knows it can count on a strong and supportive America, which will continue to play a fundamental role on the international scene and to commit itself to facing the numerous global challenges: ensuring international peace and security, responding effectively to the legitimate desire for freedom of many countries entering democracy, finally overcoming the difficult economic situation of the world economy. For this reason, Mr. President, in renewing my warmest congratulations to you and to the American people for this important success, I would like to offer you my warmest wishes for good work and serenity for you, your kind wife and your wonderful family. I look forward to the continuation of the cooperation between us, based on the particular harmony that has been created, on a personal level as well as between our two governments".
