Landed yesterday in Fiumicino, the US president was a guest at Villa Taverna, home of the US embassy. A visit to the Colosseum is scheduled for this afternoon, expressly requested by the White House, for which a sort of red zone has been created, with streets off limits for the time necessary for the tour. 

But first there will be three key meetings. The agenda includes first of all a meeting in the Vatican with Papa Francesco, whose leadership Obama – reiterated an adviser to the president – ​​“admires” and with whom he will discuss “their common commitment to fight poverty and growing inequality”. And then an interview at the Quirinale with the President of the Republic Giorgio Napolitano, defined by the White House, "a good friend and partner". Obama will also see the premier for the first time Matteo Renzi: the meeting will take place at Villa Madama.
