New extended welfare necessary for Italy

In a speech at the Enpam conference on the labor market and social security, Giampaolo Crenca, President of the National Council of Actuaries, underlined the need for Italy for a new welfare, enlarged and integrated, which brings together the four fundamental components for each citizen: social security, work, health and assistance.

The creation of a work observatory by Enpam has highlighted the strong correlation between the world of work and that of social security: reopening the great theme of welfare, because in turn work and social security are strongly linked both to health than assistance.

According to the actuaries, it is paradoxical that Italy, characterized among other things by one of the longest-lived populations in the world and by a contraction in births, has not yet tackled the welfare problem decisively. There are many possible solutions and the professional pension funds themselves, as well as the whole world of pension funds and supplementary health funds, should be an active part of it.

In this sense, President Crenca reiterated: “On these issues we have already written to the Minister of Labour, Prof. Giovannini, asking for the opening of an enlarged table. The actuaries are immediately ready to give their contribution”.
