“Journalism as we knew it is already over.” This is how the new ebook by Valerio Bassan, journalist and director of “Il Mitte”, entitled “All another news. Ideas and tools for the journalism of tomorrow".
The theme of the ebook, published by goWare and available starting today on all digital bookstores, is clear right away: "Social networks, the success of smartphones and tablets and the simultaneous birth of new ways of reporting and conveying news has helped hasten the fall of old information models. Today we can no longer rely on the certainties of the past - both editorially and economically -: we have to reinvent this profession. Technology, by now it is evident, has radically changed the way of understanding and producing news, transforming newspapers and information in general more profoundly than one can imagine. But what are the new glimmers that open up at this point?
This is the question that the author tries to answer, analyzing this change in all its forms, especially as regards the increasingly fundamental integration between blogs and newspapers, in an analysis that starts from four assumptions capitals: journalism will survive its transformation; innovation is bringing new interesting opportunities; people matter more than we believe; errors and failures are the ground on which we must build new models of sustainability.
And on the basis of these four assumptions Bassan analyzes the scenarios and challenges that the journalist is faced with, scenarios that are shaping a new professional figure, because, nowadays, the journalist can no longer limit himself to being a mediator of information, but must become its programmer, combining narrative needs with the ability to face and solve technical problems
The author
Valerio Bassan (1986) is an Italian journalist and documentary maker. He lives in Berlin, where he founded and directs Il Mitte, the first online newspaper for Italians abroad. From the German capital he collaborates with Linkiesta, TgCom24, Radio Montecarlo. He mainly deals with foreign policy, Europe, youth entrepreneurship, technology and music.
