In May, new shipyards in the United States recorded a drop of 4,8% to 708 units. The data is below the expectations of analysts who expected a figure up 0,4% on April.

On an annual basis, however, the index grew by 28,5%. The April figure was also revised upwards, which now indicates an increase of 5,4% compared to March.

On the other hand, the permits in May were dynamic, representing an index of the level of activity expected for the coming months: +7,9% to 780 units against expectations of 730, thus marking the highest level since September 2008
