New Renault Clio: Here's the sixth generation that relaunches the king of the B segment.

Thirty-five years of history They can't be erased. Especially when it comes to a model that has become both a cultural and industrial symbol. Renault Clio, the best-selling French car ever with over 17 million units circulating in 120 countries, debuts in its sixth generation, officially presented at the Monaco Motor Show. And it does so with a more assertive look, a technological interior, and an engine range that winks at efficiency without sacrificing panache.

New Renault Clio: a design that marks a turning point

La The new Clio grows, gets longer and becomes more athletic.: 4,12 meters long, 1,77 meters wide and a wheelbase extended to 2,59 meters. But more than the centimeters proportions matterThe front gains a sculpted grille, framed by LED headlights that recall the Renault diamond; the profile slides towards a compact and sleek rear, almost coupé-like. It is a stylistic language that moves away from the simple "utility car" and projects it into a more sophisticated territory, designed to appeal to both the young urban driver and the professional looking for a compact but representative car.

The hybrid heart that looks at efficiency

Under the hood, Renault raises the bar with the new 160 horsepower E-Tech Full Hybrid engineIt's not just a question of power. The system promises record fuel consumption, just 3,9 litres per 100 kilometres, and emissions reduced to 89 g/km. In the city, the Clio manages move in electric mode up to 80% of the time, giving an overall autonomy that can reach 1.000 kilometers.

These are numbers that speak above all to the wallets of European motorists, who are increasingly attentive to the cost per kilometre, but also to environmental regulations of large cities, which reward those who reduce emissions. Alongside the top hybrid, there are also petrol and LPG versions., with 115 and 120 horsepower respectively, for a range that continues to offer choice in a market that tends to narrow options.

Interiors that feel like they belong in a higher segment

The real surprise is inside. Those who enter the new Clio no longer find a spartan dashboard of a city car, but an environment that almost reaches the C-segment standard. Soft materials, recycled inserts and a attention to detail which betrays Renault's intention to give the compact the dignity of a "large" car.

The view is dominated by the 10,1-inch OpenR dual display, which houses digital instruments and a multimedia system. And this is where the revolution comes in. For the first time in this category Google integrated debuts, with Maps, Assistant and Play Store on board. In practice, thedigital ecosystem that users already have in their pockets transfers seamlessly into the cabin. Completing the package are ambient lighting with 48 color combinations, a 410-watt Harman Kardon audio system, and wireless connectivity with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Big-time safety, best-selling tradition

The Clio does not forget its vocation of mass cars, and demonstrates it with a safety equipment that draws from the higher segments. They are vnineteen driving assistance systems available, from Active Driver Assist to blind spot monitoring, to a QR code – the “QRescue” – that facilitates emergency responders in the event of an accident. A detail that clearly illustrates the changing pace of contemporary mobility: not only driving pleasure and comfort, but also awareness of what happens in critical situations.

How much does the new Renault Clio cost?

The new Clio will leave the Bursa plant, in Türkiye, the same one that has already produced over five million units. Renault aims to maintain its role as a European best-seller, at a time when the B segment is under pressure.

Despite the triumphal march of compact SUVs, the Clio remains at the top of the charts. In the first half of 2025 it is still the best-selling car on the continent.

The list price should start around 20.000 euros, with the E-Tech Full Hybrid version positioned at the top end of the range.

Clio, a symbol that resists

From 1990 to today, the Clio had luxury versions like the Baccara, sporty like the Williams and even crazy like the mid-engined V6. It conquered twice the title of “Car of the Year” and has spanned the ages without ever ceasing to reinvent itself. The new generation is no exception.

“Clio is Renault and Renault is Clio”, he underlines Fabrice Camboliva, CEO of the diamond. A phrase that sounds like a manifesto for the company: the French compact is not just a model, it is the beating heart of the brand's strategy, a bridge between pure electric and traditional combustion engines.

The Clio remains a cornerstone for Renault. Bigger, sportier, more technologically advanced. And once again poised to redefine the standards of the B-segment that has borne its name for thirty-five years.
