Clouds over the Five Star-PD government: skip the summit

The 5 Stars cancel the summit with the Democratic Party: first they want the formal go-ahead for Conte's premiership - The Democratic Party replies: apologies, we don't want Di Maio at the Viminale and deputy prime minister

Clouds over the Five Star-PD government: skip the summit

A few hours after the start of the second round of consultations at the Quirinale, the negotiations between the M5S and the Pd are once again stiffening. The summit on Monday evening, which lasted until late at night, did not go as hoped and this morning the 5 Star Movement chose to cancel the new meeting scheduled for 11 with the dem delegation. The decision was communicated to the Democratic Party with a phone call directly from Palazzo Chigi.

The hopes of reaching a last-minute agreement have not waned, but in the meantime, the swirl of cross-accusions is picking up again.

M5S: "WITHOUT THE GLIGHT FROM THE PD TO THE COUNT BIS, WE GO BACK TO VOTING"

In the Democratic Party “they still have confused ideas – reads a note from the Movement – They preach discontinuity but only talk to us about offices and ministries, there has been no talk of issues or budget law. So it's not really good yesterday after four hours of meeting nothing came of it. So it can't work. Either you change your attitude or it's difficult. We will see the Democratic Party again when in their party bodies they have given the go-ahead for Conte's job".

PD: "DI MAIO DEMANDS THE VIMINALE AND THE VICEPREMIER ARMCHAIR"

Sources of the Democratic Party instead report that “the government agreement risks falling apart due to the personal ambitions of Luigi Di Maio, who wants to be interior minister and deputy prime minister. He doesn't hear reasons about this and goes ahead with ultimatums ”. Under these conditions, the Democratic Party says it prefers elections.

THE NIGHT SUMMIT

Last night's meeting at Palazzo Chigi, which lasted four hours, raised the tension again between the Pd and the M5S. “There is still a lot to do on content and programs – summarize the dem – There is still no green light for Conte. The road is uphill and there are also differences of views on the manoeuvre".

Nervousness also on the part of the pentastellati: “It is a delicate moment and we ask for responsibility, but patience has a limit. Italy cannot wait, certainties are needed. The Democratic Party spoke only of ministries, not of programs. We await the official position of the Democratic Party on the Conte bis, there has been no clarity so far. The dem say it clearly, Conte deserves respect ”.
