Ntv expands its fleet: 6 Pendolinos purchased from Alstom

Italius increases his fleet. The CEO of Ntv Flavio Cattaneo, in fact, today signed a contract worth a total of 460 million with Pierre-Louis Bertina, President and Chief Executive Officer of Alstom Railway. The contract provides for the purchase of 8 Pendolino high-speed trains plus 20 years of maintenance. The first trains will be delivered by 2017.

With these new acquisitions, NTV aims to expand its service to travellers, integrating its fleet of 25 AGV 575 trains to offer more frequencies to passengers from Italo. 187 meters long and made up of 7 carriages, the high-speed train will be able to accommodate around 500 passengers.

Furthermore, Alstom's Pendolino meets Ntv's environmental sustainability criteria: highly recyclable, it guarantees reduced CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. The distributed engine optimizes the braking and acceleration phases of each car, making it possible to reduce the level of energy consumption.

The six trains will be entirely produced in Italy: the headquarters of Savigliano (CN) will be responsible for the design and production of the train; Sesto San Giovanni (MI) will design and manufacture the traction systems and Bolognawill take care of reporting. The maintenance of the new train will be carried out in the plant of Nola (NA), formerly responsible for the maintenance of Italo.
