New: the Apple iPhone goes Big and iWatch does the electrocardiogram

The CEO Tim Cook presented the new jewels: the three smartphones do not present major innovations in design compared to the iPhone X, but they change the processor, camera, and the memory reaches up to 512 GB – Here are the prices and when they arrive in Italy – The news in 108 seconds VIDEO

New: the Apple iPhone goes Big and iWatch does the electrocardiogram

Curtain up on the four new Apple products: three new iPhones, which however are nothing more than evolutions of the latest iPhone X, and the latest version of theApple Watch, whose sales increased by 40% in one year. The watchword is Big: the screen becomes large to catch the wave of videos and films to watch on smartphones. The iWatch, the Series 4, has a new processor, display increased by a third but external dimensions almost unchanged. On the other hand, there are numerous improvements in the software, especially with regard to health and well-being; there is a sensor that recognizes if the wearer has fallen and warns the hospital and a new system that not only counts heartbeats, but also records the electrocardiogram with precision comparable to that of a medical device (it is approved by the FDA, Food and drug administration, i.e. the US government body that regulates food and pharmaceutical products). The updated version of the Watch arrives on September 21 starting from 439 euros (539 for the mobile version, in Italy with Vodafone). It is available in steel and aluminium, in different colours.

They also arrive on the market on September 21st, but they will be available for pre-order as early as the 14th i.e. from tomorrow, the iPhone comes in threes with two more expensive models and one more "economical". The XS model (starting from 1189 euros in the standard 64 GB model) and the iPhone XS Max, the top model from 1289 euros (which reaches 1689 euros in the 512 GB model), while the so-called low-cost model , the iPhone XR (from 889 euros) will land in Italy only from 19 October. L'iPhone XS, as the abbreviation S denotes, does not present any radical changes. The design is the same as the iPhone X, while the processor, cameras and memory change inside (from 64, 128, 256 and up to 512 GB). The A12 Bionic chip, manufactured by Apple, it is the first to adopt the 7-nanometer technology and offers 40% higher performance while consuming less than the previous model. The hardware equipment is the same as theiPhone XS Max, which however has a 6,5-inch screen against 5,8 and an enhanced battery. It's the new top model, and takes the place of the old Plus: large, heavy, finished with the care of a jewel, it's designed for professionals, but you can play with it very well if you want to; it's also IP 68 certified, so it can stay up to two hours underwater without damage.

The iPhone XS are available in white, black and gold, while the colors (red, blue, yellow, coral) are reserved for the new "low cost" model. Is called iPhone XR, and replicates the strategy pioneered in 2013 with the iPhone 5c: cheaper materials, less advanced components, lower price. The design is almost identical to the top model, the novelty is that this time the cheapest model is not the smallest: the iPhone XR has a 6,1-inch screen, with LCD technology and not OLED, structure in aluminum instead of steel, no 3D Touch. “We're on our way to 2 billion iOS devices sold,” Apple CEO Tim Cook announced during the presentation event. And it won't be long: according to a Mixpanel survey, more than 30 percent of iPhone users own a 6 or 6S model, in the two standard and plus versions: they are devices launched respectively in 2014 and 2015, so it is very likely that they are destined to be replaced with the arrival of new models.

A curiosity is the continuation of the trend of no longer using the central button, as both Apple and the other smartphone manufacturers have been doing for years: with these three models, Apple in fact makes the transition to smartphones completely without a central button. The home button and Touch ID are now a thing of the past. Furthermore, the iPhone XR, in addition to being cheaper and more colorful, is a device that seems specially cut for oriental markets, China in the lead, where products that combine smartphone and tablet features (the so-called "phablets") are highly appreciated especially by younger people. The XS, on the other hand, are products of different prices and conceptually much more premium: and the new gold colour, in an ingot tone, communicates just this.
