The Campania Regional Museums Directorate participates in the event with extraordinary openings and a busy program of events and initiatives in the museums of the regional network, organized in full compliance with current anti-Covid regulations to avoid gatherings and guarantee social distancing

European Night of Museums: Saturday 3 July (List of Campania museums)

The European Night of Museums returns on Saturday 3 July, the initiative organized by the French Ministry of Culture and sponsored by UNESCO, the Council of Europe and ICOM, promoted in Italy by the Ministry of Culture through the General Directorate of Museums.

Now in its seventeenth edition, the European Night of Museums provides theextraordinary evening opening of museums and places of culture at the symbolic cost of 1 euro, except for the free ones provided by law, to offer an opportunity to relaunch and promote the activities of the Institutes planned throughout the summer season.

Guided tours, exhibitions and new displays, artistic performances, shows, concerts and educational activities for the little ones on the theme "Class, l'oeuvre!", will be an opportunity to return to experience the museums and cultural heritage of our territories even in the evening, with exceptionally extended hours, and to participate safely in the initiatives organized together with institutions and local associations to celebrate once again the night dedicated to European museums.

NAPLES

Duca di Martina Museum - Floridiana Villa

Special opening, Saturday 3 July 2021, 18.00-21.00 (last admission at 20.00, last admission to the Museum at 20.15)

On the occasion of the European Night of Museums, extraordinary opening of the Duca di Martina Museum, which houses and exhibits one of the major Italian collections of decorative arts with over six thousand works of Western and Eastern manufacture, dating from the XNUMXth to the XNUMXth century. In addition to the most conspicuous nucleus of the collections, made up of European ceramics and porcelains - including Meissen, Doccia, Naples and Capodimonte - visitors will be able to admire precious furnishings, artefacts and paintings, as well as the splendid collection of oriental art, including notable are the Chinese and Japanese porcelains. An opportunity to confront distant and fascinating cultures, all enclosed in the splendid nineteenth-century villa that Ferdinand of Bourbon gave to his wife Luisa Migliaccio, Duchess of Floridia.

Certosa di San Martino Museum

For the European Night of Museums, extraordinary evening opening of the Certosa and San Martino Museum, where it will be possible to visit the rooms annexed to the Church, the Prior's Quarter (up to the Loggia), the crib section and the naval section, exceptionally open for 'occasion. The visit itinerary has recently been enriched, after a long and complex restoration and museum operation, with the new exhibition hall dedicated to the Cona dei Lani, the largest set of polychrome terracotta of the Southern Renaissance, evidence of the sixteenth-century phase of the Angevin church of Sant 'Eligio al Mercato, destroyed by bombing in 1943. On the occasion of the return to the public of the majestic Renaissance work, at 20.30 pm in the Chiostro dei procuratori the vocal ensemble La vague aurora, of the Pietrasanta Polyphonic Society, as part of the review "The memory becomes song – Life resumes in the places of art”, will perform a polyphonic concert of the Neapolitan and Italian '500 (reservation required: coropietrasanta@gmail.com or by telephone at 3383983307 Friday 2 July from 15.00 to 17.00). In room 9 of the Quarto del Priore, which exhibits masterpieces by Battistello Caracciolo and whose layout has recently been enriched with a series of sketches of sculptures, including the famous Veiled Christ by Antonio Corradini, "Coloured areas" will take shape, a site specific project , signed by Mauro Maurizio Palumbo. The artist will propose an ideal extension of the works through heaps of colored pigments, so as to delineate different areas of the room. Small color interventions, colored areas, which become a symbol of life and rebirth. An experiential journey, which will last the time of a dream, where each user, in dialogue with the exhibited works, will be able to search for the color that most identifies him and, of course, find and find himself in the characteristics associated with it, a sort of color hunt and its symbolism, an ephemeral game, with the aim of arousing reflections as well as greeting the rediscovered emotion of being able to experience the museum even at night.

Museo Diego Aragona Pignatelli Cortes

Villa Pignatelli: the home of a princess, Saturday 3 July 2021, 19.30-22.30 pm (last admission at 22.00 pm)

For the European Night of Museums, extraordinary opening of the Pignatelli Museum with guided tours. Visitors will be accompanied in the living rooms of the neoclassical Villa and they will be illustrated the history of the residence and of the owners who have lived it through the centuries, enriching it with works of art and personal memories. There are two guided tours, for a maximum of 20 people at a time, the first at 20.00 and the second at 21.00.

Castel Sant'Elmo - Museo Novecento in Naples

Square Centimeter, Saturday 3 July 2021, 19.30-22.30 pm (last admission at 22.00 pm)

On the occasion of the extraordinary opening of the Castle and the Museo Novecento in Naples for the European Night of Museums, the work-project "Centimetro Quadrato" will be exhibited, created as part of the "Lessons at the Castle" project, by the students of the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples of the Painting course for teaching by the teacher Mauro Maurizio Palumbo. The work, presented last May for the International Museum Day, was revisited and rearranged for the occasion by the students themselves under the supervision of Anna Maria Romano, director of Castel Sant'Elmo – Novecento in Naples, to create a new and renewed dialogue between the Academy and the Castle. The eco-sustainable installation was designed and built with recycled materials, between distance and face-to-face teaching, and is a reflection on interpersonal distances in the Covid era and on the importance of social relationships.

Historical archaeological museum of Nola

On the occasion of the European Night of Museums and the extraordinary evening opening, visitors will be able to visit "Un Amore Manifesto", an exhibition inaugurated on 24 June, which exhibits historical posters of the Lilies festival and the most significant texts of the Aldo Masullo Library, together to other texts granted by the diocesan archive and by private individuals. The exhibition will be open to the public until July 31st.

Certosa di San Giacomo

O Divine nature: the landscape of Capri in Diefenbach's paintings, Saturday 3 July 2021, 18.00-21.00 (last admission 20.30)

On the occasion of the extraordinary evening opening, guided tours organized by the Educational Service of the Certosa di San Giacomo will illustrate some paintings made in Capri by the German painter KW Diefenbach (Hadamar 1854 – Capri 1913) in the last period of his life. On the island the painter rediscovered the longed-for Eden, his most intimate inspiration, facing that tremendous and beautiful sea and those rugged cliffs that he adored. He portrayed the landscape of the island from the most panoramic views, discovered during his frequent walks: Marina Piccola, Monte Solaro, Castiglione and Pizzolungo, the Faraglioni and the Natural Arch, described with precision in the natural elements in an atmosphere full of bright contrasts.

National Archaeological Museum of Eboli and the Media Valle del Sele

The ManES National Archaeological Museum of Eboli and the Media Valle del Sele, usually closed on weekends, opens its doors for the Night of the Museums on Saturday 3 July for a visit to its collections. Extraordinary opening also on Sunday 4 July, with an initiative in collaboration with the Municipality of Eboli, which sponsors "Museum, territory, community: a special summer at ManES in Eboli", an event organized by the Il Forno di Vincenzo Association. In the communal spaces of the cloister of the Monumental Complex of San Francesco, excellent products from the Piana del Sele will be presented, the quality of which is guaranteed by the collaboration with the Slow Food Community of Pellezzano. The event sees among its partners important third sector realities, linked to the promotion of healthy and accessible tourism, with which the Museum has started a dialectical comparison to give life to projects linked to the broader inclusion of the 'public' that today the Cilento4all Association (Agropoli), the Il Tulipano social cooperative (Naples), the X-fragile Campania APS Association (Naples) attend the cultural spaces and to overcome the conceptual barriers on disabilities and counter the growing phenomenon of ableism. During the event, the products made by the “I Colori dentro” art atelier will also be presented: the cloister will be colored by the bags of these young artists.

National Archaeological Museum of the Sarno Valley

On the occasion of the European Night of Museums, the National Archaeological Museum of the Sarno Valley exhibits in the exhibition "La Classe, l'oeuvre!" the creations made by the students of the Istituto Comprensivo De Amicis-Baccelli of Sarno, inspired by the archaeological finds and the pottery in use in the XNUMXth century, a time when the building, now the museum, was inhabited by an important local family. Pontecagnano National Archaeological Museum

Confluences between ancient and contemporary, Saturday 3 July 2021, 19.30-22.30 pm

Organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Pontecagnano Faiano, the event will present the activities envisaged as part of the II edition of the "Musée éclaté-Museo senzalimite" project, aimed at enhancing the archaeological itineraries of the city in close connection with the heritage exhibited in the Museum and with contemporary art. The extraordinary opening will start at 19.30 with a guided tour by Luigina Tomay, director of the Museum, of the recently inaugurated exhibition entitled “On the children's side. New discoveries for new stories”. At 20.00, after the institutional greetings, the two young artists winners of this year's announcement will intervene, called to create their works in places in the city connected to important archaeological finds. The presentation will be concluded by Stefania Zuliani, professor of Theory of the Museum and of exhibitions in the contemporary age at the University of Salerno. From 21.00 to 22.30 there will be a concert by the musical group "Settebocche", engaged for years in an in-depth research on the origins of the culture of the Picentino area through shows inspired by the music, songs and dances typical of popular culture.

Archaeological Museum of ancient Capua

European Night of Museums in Santa Maria Capua Vetere, Saturday 3 July 2021, 19.00-22.00 pm (last admission at 21.30 pm)

The archaeological circuit of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, together with the cultural places of "Appia Felix", organizes a calendar of initiatives with extraordinary evening openings on the occasion of the European Night of Museums. At 20.00, 20.30 and 21.00, guided visits to the Archaeological Museum of ancient Capua themed on the "colors of the past": decorative techniques and methodologies applied to different materials will be illustrated, from the architectural terracottas that decorated the roofs of Campania, to the red-figure scenes which animated the ceramic containers found in the tombs; a particular focus will also be reserved for the tombs with painted slabs of the Campanians. A visit itinerary that will allow you to discover the uses, customs and craftsmanship of the ancient Capuani in a transversal way. For the occasion, a small delegation of children who participated in the HortiCultura project will also be present at the Museum, supported by the social enterprise "Con i Bambini" as part of the fund to combat child educational poverty, who have cultivated the museum gardens implemented with "Terra Felix" at the Archaeological Museum of Ancient Capua and at the Campanian Amphitheater. At the Arteteca museum playroom, the operators of the "Città Irene" cooperative will offer educational workshops for young visitors from 19.00 to 20.00. All the measures to avoid the contagion and spread of COVID-19 provided for by the legislation and internal protocols will be respected. The number of visitors will be limited in compliance with the anti-Covid 19 measures. Once the maximum number has been reached, no further access will be allowed. Campania amphitheater

At the Campania Amphitheater, from 19.00 to 22.00, guided tours will be offered by the Archeoclub of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, while in the nearby Gladiator Museum, at 20.00, 20.30 and 21.00, thematic guided tours on the "Suggestions mythological" imprinted on the marble reliefs of the Campanian amphitheater. In the room that shows, in an evocative way, the reconstruction of a part of the cavea, the marble decorations that embellished the entrances to the steps (vomitoria) with mythological scenes, venationes and representations of amphitheater life will be illustrated. In the portico of the Gladiator Museum a temporary exhibition by the artist Gianni Pontillo entitled "Memories from the Underground" will be proposed, an artistic production that intends to raise awareness and educate on environmental issues. The exhibition is organized by the Lions Club of Santa Maria Capua Vetere and Fidapa Also in the portico in front of the small museum of the archaeological area, three performances by the gospel choir "Five Notes", organized by the musical association "GB Pergolesi" chaired by Maestro Raffaele Salemme, with the artistic direction of Maestro Flavia Salemme. Roman Theater of Benevento

Tetraktys. Alchemy of the four elements, Saturday 3 July 2021, 19.30-22.30 pm

The Roman Theater of Benevento, in collaboration with Carmen Castiello's Centro Studi Balletto di Benevento, presents the project “Tetraktys. Alchemy of the four elements“, a traveling show within the archaeological area with the students of the school, in line with the theme “The class, the oeuvre!”. The protagonists of all the paintings will be four women wearing long hooded cloaks of the four colours, blue, brown, white, red, who will lead the public along the path of the four elements linked to different aspects of the meanings attributed to the figure of the Janara, in since the four natural elements have always been considered visible and invisible, physical and spiritual. The pristine natural environments of the past, with their sounds, smells and colors, were fertile ground for the imagination that inspired the tradition of beliefs, fables and legends. The show, lasting 30 minutes, will begin at 20.30 and will be repeated at 21.30.

National Archaeological Museum of Sannio Caudino

The courtyard of the Castle of Montesarchio, seat of the Archaeological Museum of Sannio caudino, exceptionally open in the evening for the European Night of Museums, will resound at 19.30 and 21.00 pm to the notes of a concert by Flavio Feleppa, accordion, and Carmine Facchiano, double bass and guitar, while in the courtyard of the Tower Giampaolo Ferrigno will perform on guitar. The event is organized in collaboration with the Anna Jervolino Association, the Municipality of Montesarchio and the Sentinelle della Torre Association.

AVELLINO

Museum of the Dogana dei Grani Palace

The Customs in the Customs. Atripalda and Avellino: Customs compared, Saturday 3 July 2021, 19.30-22.30 pm (last admission at 22.00 pm). Free entry

On the occasion of the extraordinary opening for the European Night of Museums, it will be possible to visit the exhibition “La Dogana nella Dogana. Atripalda and Avellino: Customs compared”. The exhibition, set up on the occasion of the European Heritage Days, aims to raise awareness of the history and function of the Customs offices of Atripalda and Avellino starting from the medieval period. The exhibition itinerary, set up in the central hall of the Dogana dei Grani of Atripalda, allows visitors to retrace the history of what is considered one of the main architectural emergencies of the ancient urban nucleus, through the statues from the façade of the Customs house of Avellino about thirty years after the fire that devastated it. An opportunity to re-read the closely related stories of Atripalda and Avellino and recompose a cultural discourse that is still partly fragmented.
