Night of the Forums: the experimental pedestrianization phase of the Imperial Forums begins

It will be a celebration of culture and entertainment to kick off, on Saturday 3 August, the experimental phase of pedestrianization of Via dei Fori Imperiali, the most important archaeological area on the planet. During the long evening, citizens will be able to visit the Forums for free and attend numerous shows and exhibitions.

It will be a celebration of culture and entertainment to kick off, Saturday August 3 to the experimental pedestrianization phase of Via dei Fori Imperiali, the most important archaeological area on the whole planet.

With the Night of the Forums the heart of the city that returns to pulsate with the life of Roman men and women, a universal wealth of history and artistic beauty that is returned to humanity. The first step towards the creation of the largest archaeological park in the world and for future discoveries on the past of the Eternal City.

It starts at 21.30 hours cutting of the ribbon of the Mayor Ignatius Marino, of the Councilor for Culture, Creativity and Artistic Promotion Flavia Barca and the authorities present who will stroll along via dei Fori Imperiali together with citizens and tourists from all over the world. Everything will be accompanied by Urban Police Band who will perform pieces from their repertoire.

Starting at 21.30 the doors of the archaeological sites will open for a series of guided tours of great suggestion, accompanied by official guides, ai Trajan's Markets e Via Alexandrina (open access) al Trajan's Forum, to the Militia Tower, To House of the Knights of Rhodes and Roman domus of Palazzo Valentini, Roman Forum, Forum of Nerva e Forum of Caesar, from the Arch of Titus to the Arch of Septimius Severus, all with reservations required. The project is in collaboration with the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism / Special Superintendence for Archaeological Heritage of Rome

Il Forum of Caesar will host from 21.30 lo spettacolo Shakespeare loves Rome by the Association La bilancia. In the magical night of Rome, among the Roman remains of the Forum of Caesar, four young couples play at swapping parts by stealing words from Shakespeare's famous comedies. Thus seven love affairs of the great English playwright intertwine, giving life to a single unpublished comedy with sentimental and comic implications.

to 22 the area adjacent to the Tourist Information Point of Via dei Fori Imperiali will be the backdrop to Behind the Wind – Living Matter. The show will develop between air and land accompanied by poetic narration and the sound of the live violin. Acrobatics on fabric and trapeze will alternate in the air, while on the ground they will dance with crystal spheres to the notes of the violin.

Always at 22 theperformance area in front of via di San Pietro in prison on via dei Fori Imperiali will host the show The Ballade de Bergerac edited by Lost in Translation Circus, an excerpt from the company's latest work for a highly evocative performance with numbers from Quadro Coreano and Corda Aerea. Inspired by early science fiction stories and life in the time of Cyrano de Bergerac, this show combines aerial techniques with a stempunk-inspired mechanical set to create a large cinematic imagery and a typically dreamlike world.

At 22.15 in Central Box in Largo Corrado Ricci will be held on Concert for Rome ofNational Academy of Santa Cecilia. The String Quartet (Nicola Lolli violin, Ylenia Montaruli violin, Federico Marchetti viola, Danilo Squitieri cello) will perform the Quartet in G major opus 18 no. 2  (Allegro – Adagio Cantabile, Allegro – Scherzo – Allegro quasi Presto) e Walking (second movement) by L. van Beethoven.

At 22.30 in the area adjacent to the Tourist Information Point will perform on Ponentino Trio with the show rum, the goddess of fertility honored by the pre-Roman populations in the Tiber valley from which the name of the city of Rome probably originated. A roundup of the most famous stornelli and the most beautiful ancient and modern Roman songs with songs by Balzani, Petrolini, Bruno and many others. The storyteller's repertoire of texts is based on the poems of traditional Roman poets: GGBelli, Trilussa, C. Pascarella and by some contemporaries such as Remo Remotti and Marcello Gazzellini.

Always at 22.30 on stage in front of via di San Pietro in prison they will go up Phil and Emanuela Palmer is they will perform a repertoire of great international and Italian success that will not leave out the great Roman popular songs. Phil Palmer is a "Roman acquired ... for love" after marrying the Roman Emanuela Palmer (singer and producer). Producer and arranger of artists such as Renato Zero, Adriano Celentano, Pino Daniele and Lucio Battisti, he is internationally known for having collaborated with the greatest pop and rock artists including: Eric Clapton, Tina Turner, Dire Straits, Sting, Robbie Williams, Elton John, Paul McCartney and many others…

All 22.45 on the buildings around Largo Corrado Ricci two are projected movies made with images from the Istituto Luce, the National Film Archive and the RAI Teche that tell the story of the places. Then the Central Stage will host the Greetings from the authorities.

At the end of the interventions (hours 23.45 approximately) will be observed a minute of silence in memory of Renato Nicolini and a 1976 film-interview with Renato Nicolini on the Imperial Forums will be screened.

Then, with the accompaniment of the pianist and composer Sal Bonafede and the saxophonist Luigi Cinque the show will start Walk in the sky di Andrea Loreni, Company the tightrope walker: a walk with acrobatic actions on a wire installed above via dei Fori Imperiali like a metaphorical bridge that unites the archaeological areas now separated from the road. The simple steel cable that will join two architectural points will create a new space indicating a completely different perspective to our gaze as spectators. There crossing of the tightrope walker is an essential and direct show, a slow progress punctuated by suspension; but the walk of the tightrope walker is also the silent audience that lets itself be carried away and walks in the sky with him, sharing his emotion, the human and natural fear of heights and the joy of looking this fear in the face.

On the occasion of the beginning of the pedestrianization of the Forums, Poste Italiane has created a special celebratory stamp whose imprint can be requested from the temporary postal service present in via dei Fori Imperiali.

The event is organized with the contribution of the Chamber of Commerce of Rome and Bnl.
