North Korea: “Use in Syria? Ready to Atomic”

North Korea condemns the US missile attack on Syria as "absolutely unacceptable": in a note from the Foreign Ministry, relaunched by the official KCNA agency, the move is defined as a "clear invasion" and a confirmation of the "validity" of the Pyongyang's decision to acquire, develop and strengthen its nuclear weapons. Donald Trump's administration "is no different" from previous ones, is the conclusion. The statement is Pyongyang's first official reaction to the attack decided by Trump and carried out against a Syrian air base when the tycoon was engaged in the first summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping, in Mar-a-Lago, Florida.

Among the main issues on the agenda of the summit was also that of North Korea's nuclear and missiles, of which Beijing remains its historical ally, despite the irritation for the continued unpredictability of behavior. Indeed, it appeared to observers that the attack on Syria, due to its timing, can be read as a warning addressed to China (due to its "weak" persuasion) and to North Korea in the face of a regime that does not want to withdraw from its atomic ambitions. Trump, not surprisingly, has floated the hypothesis that the US could adopt unilateral measures against the North if China does not exert all possible pressure.
