Nomisma, a recipe for cybersecurity
Nomisma presented oogi in Rome the results of the research carried out for the Information Technology company "ITWay” on the dissemination of the culture of cybersecurity. The main fact that emerges is that the market for computer security continues to grow globally as cybercrime is costing businesses up to $400 billion annually.
Considering the individual segments, that of it is the component that has shown the most lively trend (+3,5%), the services segment is also growing, with +1,6%. In 2014, the only segment in contraction was that of hardware, down by 1%.
The dynamics of the digital investments in public administration. For 2014, central administrations recorded a drop in expenditure of 2,6% (compared to -11,6% in 2013), mainly attributable to the ICT service components, while for local administrations the negative dynamics recorded a decrease by 2,1% for a total market value of 1.237 million euro.
The sector of companies that offer advanced technologies and services in the ICT sector is of absolute importance and has more than 75.000 companies and 456 employees in Italy, mainly concentrated in the services sector (about 70%), in software (23%) , telecommunications (5%), hardware manufacturing (1,5%).
Nomisma's investigation, conducted on a sample of 87 corporations, highlighted how most of the companies monitored are small and medium-sized (73% of them had a revenue value of less than 2013 million in 5) and "young", established starting from the year 2000 Sales revenues show a growing trend, +16,8% in the four-year period 2009-2013 which underlines a substantial stability even in the negative economic period. As for the turnover, the 2009-2013 trend also shows a growth trend for the operating result, with an overall increase at the end of the period of +10,6%.
Against an increase in the volume of business and the operating result, the profit of the companies monitored is however down by about 30 percentage points even if, compared to 2009, in 2013 the share of companies that obtained a positive economic result was increased from 76% to 79%. The overall drop in profit must therefore be read as an objective difficulty of the companies in gaining market shares that allow an adjustment to the incidence of the increase in costs on turnover.
The Minister for Simplification and Public Administration Marianna Sideboard, present throughout the conference, took the floor at the end to underline the importance of IT technologies for the competitiveness of the contemporary economy and to relaunch the "unique pin” or the public system for digital identity management (SPID).
