Appointments: Tim, Rossi coming soon. CDP, derby on the presidency

The white smoke to the presidency of Telecom Italia (today Tim) came from the nomination committee and led to designation of Salvatore Rossi, until last spring General Manager of the Bank of Italy, on which the consents of important shareholders such as the American fund Elliott and the French Vivendi converge, as well as the approval of the CEO Luigi Gubitosi.

After the go-ahead from the Appointments Committee, Rossi will be co-opted to Tim's board of directors on Monday to become its president elThe company assembly will formalize the appointment at the earliest opportunity.

Salvatore Rossi is not only an authoritative economist but he is a man of great balance who can bring Tim a contribution of wisdom and effectively exercise the role of chairmanship of guarantee among the shareholders.

It seems more open instead the match for the presidency of the CDP (the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti) from which Massimo Tononi will resign on 24 October due to disagreements, never recomposed, with CEO Fabrizio Palermo. Two candidates are running for his succession: Giovanni Gorno Tempini, former CEO of the Cassa under the presidency of Bassanini and currently a director of Intesa Sanpaolo, e Andrea Belatti, Professor of Political Economy at Bocconi and former Chairman of the Management Board of Banca Intesa Sanpaolo.

The banking foundations, which by statute are responsible for the designation of the president of the Cdp and which will pronounce themselves on October 22, seem to lean towards Gorno Tempini but the foundations are less compact than the times in which Giuseppe Guzzetti reigned and therefore the games remain open. And twists are always around the corner.
