Public appointments: not only Bankitalia on the agenda

Month you go, public appointments you find in a maze of entities that often escape attention. Extricating yourself isn't very easy, let's try to give an overview, without forgetting that the appointments of the new Bank of Italy Directorate have not yet received the political go-ahead.

At the end of the month Franco Gallo's office expires (who was finance minister in the Ciampi government) as president of the Institute of the Italian Encyclopaedia (IEI), an institution that has its roots way back in 1925, founded by Giovanni Treccani and which saw Giovanni Gentile as its first scientific director. Its specific task is the compilation, updating, publication and diffusion of the encyclopaedia and of the works that can divulge the humanistic, scientific and research experience.

The procedure is underway for the appointment of a member of the executive council of Anvur, the national agency for the evaluation of the university and research system. Basically, the Agency oversees the public system of evaluation of the entities receiving public funding, assessing the efficiency and effectiveness of public programs and incentive programs for research and innovation activities. It also acts as a quality assurance agency. At Inda, the national institute for ancient drama, after the commissioner management, the board of directors was completed with the appointment of a member of the board itself, Mariarita Sgarlata.

Founded in 1914, the institute was transformed into a Foundation. Its mission is to coordinate the organization and performance of performances in Greek and Roman theaters and archaeological parks on a national level, promoting the dissemination of the classical theatrical repertoire. At Istat, the committee for addressing and coordinating statistical information is about to expire. To be renewed as many as 13 members, who will remain in office for 4 years. The committee decides – on the proposal of the president – the national statistical program and exercises directive functions towards the statistical information offices.

In the meantime, the positions at the INPS have been renewed – not without heated discussions – where Pasquale Tridico took the place at the top replacing Tito Boeri, to Consob with the appointment of Paolo Savona as president; to Istat (the seventy-year-old Giancarlo Blangiardo is the new president). And President Domenico Parisi is freshly appointed to Anpal on a proposal from the Ministry of Labour. He will remain in office for 3 years. Anpal, i.e. the National Agency for Active Labor Policies, was established just over 3 years ago, on 1 January 2016 and its purpose is to coordinate the network of services for labor policies. It will play an important role in the management of the basic income.

Without particular clamor, the appointment of the new president to the pension fund of the Armed Forces; to ENAC (civil aviation body, control and regulation authority) where Nicola Zaccheo takes over from Vito Riggio to the presidency, coming from Sitael, an Italian company that participates in the Mars exploration project; of the commissioner at the UITS (Italian Shooting Union, whose purpose is the instruction in shooting with a firearm and relative certification); to Enit (Giorgio Palmucci new president, coming from Confindustria Alberghi); while appointments to the Ordine Mauriziano Foundation, IVASS (insurance supervisory institute) and some national parks are still at stake.
