Public nominations at the spring waltz: all seats up for grabs

It opened the countdown to public nominations. The waltz of armchairs will begin in a few months, but as widely expected, politics and finance are already in fibrillation.

Many companies controlled by the state with top management having reached the natural end of their mandate. We are not talking about small companies, but real giants of the Stock Exchange such as Eni, Enel, Terna, Poste Italiane, Leonardo-Finmeccanica who will renew their boards of directors. For some of them the process has already started: Eni's shareholders are the first to be summoned. The shareholders will meet on April 13 to elect the new board. Then it will be the turn of Enel shareholders (May 4), while on Tuesday 2 it will be Leonardo's turn and on Thursday 27 Terna's.

The Treasury will move the ranks, which in the coming weeks will have to deliver the list of its candidates to lead the subsidiaries. At stake are the boards of five groups that alone account for 121 billion in market capitalization. For these giants alone, there are many places to fill: they will be everywhere 48 nominations, including those of chief executive officer and president.

But the possible changes at the top do not concern only the large groups. The boards of directors of the direct subsidiaries to be renewed also include that of Enav, Consap (the public insurance services concessionaire), Sogesid (environmental remediation company) and Ram (Mediterranean motorway network).

And then there are indirect subsidiaries, the so-called subsidiaries of the subsidiaries, a large and varied universe which nonetheless plays a decisive role for the country's economy.

Just think of the risk that is about to reopen among the subsidiaries of State Railways: 18 companies to be renewed, 11 boards from which the boards of statutory auditors are added. Among them, Rfi, Ferservizi, FS Sistemi Urbani and the Brenner Railway Tunnel stand out.

And again, among the companies of the Eni group it will be necessary to appoint the boards of Agi, Eni Mediterranea, Eni International Bv, hydrocarbons, Ieoc Spa, Eni Gas and Light, etc.

As regards the companies headed by Enel there are 7 expiring boards of directors, among which that of Enel Green Power stands out.

8 boards to be appointed in the companies in the perimeter Anas, while among the subsidiaries of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti the directors of Fintecna will have to be chosen.

neither Poste Italiane is exempt from the waltz, the board of directors of Poste Vita and Poste Assicura are at stake. In Invitalia instead, the bodies of Invitalia Partecipazioni and Invitalia Ventures will have to be appointed.

Then it is impossible not to take into account the subsidiaries Rai, given that the expiring boards of directors include those of Rai Cinema, Rai Com and above all Rai Way.
