FS appointments: Battisti new CEO, Castelli president. That's who I am

Gianfranco Battisti is the new CEO of Ferrovie dello Stato, while Gianluigi Vittorio Castelli is the new president. This was announced by the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Danilo Toninelli, in a post on his Facebook account, specifying that "two directors who had resigned in unsuspecting times, showing disagreement with the choice of the previous board not to apply the ethics clause for the lapsed CEO".

Until yesterday Battisti he was managing director of Sistemi Urbani, the real estate arm of the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane group. Furthermore, he led the High Speed ​​branch and was in charge of the National and International Passenger Division, of which he was director between 2009 and 2017. Born in Fiuggi, he began his career at Fiat in Turin, dealing for nine years with the Marketing and Commercial Management. In Ferrovie since 1998, he was part of the task force that organized the reception of the Jubilee 2000. He has also been the national president of Federturismo since June 2016 and in the past he was on the Board of Directors of Artesia (the company for the management of between Italy and France).

Castles instead up to now he has been Central Director of Innovation and Information Systems of FS. Graduated in Physics at the University of Milan, he began his career in software development, then working in Fiat, Infostrada, Omnitel/Vodafone and Eni.

Last week the group's previous board of directors had been reset by the Ministry of Economy and that of Infrastructure and Transport. And the former CEO, Renato Mazzoncini, had left the company amidst controversy.
