Nokia net profit down 29%

The acquisition of rival Alcatel-Lucent weighs on the accounts of the Finnish company, acquired just over two years ago by Microsoft – Revenues growing to 12,5 billion.

Still struggling for Nokia. The now former Finnish telecommunications giant, bought just over two years ago from Microsoft for nearly $10 billion, reported a 29% decline in net profit in 2015, to 2,45 billion euros, following the acquisition of rival Alcatel-Lucent. Operating profit increased by 20% and revenues by 6% to 12,5 billion. Net income from “continuing operations” after divestments and before the acquisition of Alcatel-Lucent fell by 56% to 1,19 billion euros.

Since it came under the umbrella of Microsoft Nokia has had to suffer over 20 layoffs and its value has now dropped, according to the valuation of the same company that makes Windows, to 2 billion dollars. Microsoft has also appropriated the Lumia series of smartphones, deleting any reference to the original brand in the naming of the devices from the end of 2014 to today. Including the next product to be released, the Windows Lumia 650, which according to rumors is about to land on the market at a price of 200 euros for Europe.
