Nokia has announced that it will acquire all the shares of its French rival Alcatel-Lucent for 15,6 billion euros. The new mega-group that will arise from the merger will keep the name of the Finnish telephony giant.
The operation, which will take place through a public purchase and exchange offer for 0,55 euro per share, will be completed within the first half of 2016.
The shareholding will be made up of two-thirds (66,5%) by the current Nokia shareholding and one-third (33,5%) by that of Alcatel-Lucent. The new company will be based in Finland and will be led by the current management of Nokia.
