Nobel Peace Prize to the anti-nuclear ICAN

Nobel Peace Prize to the anti-nuclear ICAN

The Nobel Prize for the PCE has been awarded to ICAN, the international organization for the prohibition of nuclear weapons. The Stockholm Academy motivated him thus: "for his role in shedding light on the catastrophic consequences of any use of nuclear weapons and for his innovative efforts to arrive at a treaty prohibiting these weapons". ICAN, a non-profit organization founded in 2007, brings together 406 partner organizations in 101 countries.

The award comes, not surprisingly, in one of the moments of greatest tension between the United States and North Korea over the use of nuclear warheads.
