Nissan, there's a new CEO: will the FCA dossier reopen?

Almost a year afterarrest and 10 months from resignation of Carlos Ghosn, Nissan has its new CEO. It's about Makoto Uchida, head of the Chinese branch of the Japanese group. The news was reported by the AFP agency.

The name of Uchida, 53, was already circulating yesterday among the possible candidates together with two other Japanese: Yasuhiro Yamauchi and Jun Seki.

According to the Financial Times, with this move Nissan hopes to put an end to the internal strife that has dragged on since the ex-number one, Carlos Ghosn, was ousted following his arrest in Japan last year.

Uchida's appointment would be approved by unanimity by the Board of Directors.

It remains to be seen whether the new CEO is willing to reopen negotiations with fca in view of a possible three-way merger with Renault.
