Nikon says goodbye to SLRs and archives 60 years of photography history

Nikon will no longer produce SLR cameras. The news comes from the Japanese business newspaper Nikkei, according to which the iconic brand from today onwards the company will focus only on mirrorless cameras and will no longer produce models equipped with pentaprism and optical viewfinder.

A novelty that represents the end of an era. That of the professional reflex cameras that have made the history of world photography. Object of desire of all enthusiasts, but also at the center of a clash between two schools of thought to the last photo: better Nikon or Canon? No one has ever found a definitive answer.

Immediately after the publication of the news, Nikon released a statement in which it ensures that the production of existing reflex cameras will not yet be stopped and that assistance and support for cameras on the market will still continue. However, the press release does not contain the most important data, namely that the company will no longer present a new SLR model.

Nikon has had to surrender to the changes that have choked the sector, which with the advent of digital and smartphones has quickly transformed into a niche for enthusiasts and insiders.
