Adobe, the US software giant, has announced that he will leave home without pay all of its employees active in the US who they will not have received at least one dose of the vaccine by 8 December. This was revealed by the American broadcaster CNBC, which cites as its source an email written by Gloria Chen, the company's chief people office.

The decision makes headlines because it is unusually drastic and comes from a company of primary importance on the international market. However, the practical consequences will be limited, given that – the same source specifies – 93% of Adobe employees based in the United States have already received at least one dose of the anti-Covid vaccine.

Adobe has chosen to put employees at this crossroads – get vaccinated or stop working – after that the Biden administration issued an executive order according to which each holder of government contracts (such as Adobe, in fact) must ensure that workers have at least started the vaccination cycle. In any case, the group will evaluate any exemptions for medical or religious reasons before proceeding with a salary suspension.

Adobe is not the first major technology company to take a clear position in favor of vaccines. At the beginning of October, already IBM had established the vaccination obligation for its employees, also establishing the same time limit of 8 December. Not only: Google, Microsoft e Facebook require all workers to get vaccinated before returning to work on site (and it seems that, in the future, Big G employees who remain in smart working could have their salaries reduced by up to 25%).

This kind of intransigence is not common to the whole technology sector, even if the final result will be the same as already obtained in Italy with the green pass. Companies that do not opt ​​for compulsory vaccines, in fact, impose on workers without coverage of undergo frequent swabs.
