News, Facebook surpasses Google as a source of traffic

Facebook surpasses Google as a traffic source for news sites. This is supported by Parse.ly, a company that analyzes the habits of Internet users. In particular, according to the latest estimates, the social network is growing steadily and today accounts for 48% of traffic to news sites, while the search engine has stopped growing and stops at 38%.

However, Tony Haile, in an interview with Fortune, points out that Facebook's growth mainly concerns the major newspapers, while Google continues to create traffic mainly for the smaller ones.

This also happens because Google no longer communicates to publishers which keywords to use to generate more traffic – as the Cto of Parse.ly, Montalenti explained to Fortune – also in order not to share information about its own algorithm.

In any case, the general trend is quite evident. And Facebook's primacy risks further strengthening in the future, given that, according to many rumors, Zuckerberg's creature has been working on a news app for some time.
