It is a group of works from the very early years of the twentieth century (dated within 1919) by Modigliani, de Chirico, Balla, (Taubman had a special fondness for Giacomo Balla) with illustrious provenances such as: Leopold Zborowski, Paul Guilllaume, Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, Lydia Winston Malbin, Gianni Mattioli and others.

It is the study for the work conserved in the Mattioli Collection.

Exhibited in Turin at the Civic Gallery of Modern Art in 1963, at the Gnam in Rome in 1971, in Milan at the Palazzo Reale in 1973 and in Genoa in 1997-98 on the occasion of the exhibition dedicated to Futurism.

Formerly from the collection of Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, then in the collection of his daughter, Benedetta Cappa Marinetti and later in the most important Futurist collection of all time: the collection of Lydia Winston Malbin.

It is one of Modigliani's last paintings, a very high example of his art, and portrays the companion of the art dealer and collector Leopold Zborowski; the work was kept in his collection and subsequently passed into that of another great dealer, Paul Guilllaume.

The collection of A. Alfred Taubman, great American collector and businessman (January 31, 1924 – April 17, 2015), and former President of Sotheby's, will go to auction in New York in four auctions dedicated to him: on November 4 Masterworks, on November 5th Modern & Contemporary Art, on November 18th American Art and on January 27, 2016 Old Masters Paintings.
