New York, the Apple iPhone is literally "selling like hot cakes"

Despite Samsung's overtaking on world sales, Apple's jewel is still apparently the most desired smartphone: to the point of being the most stolen object in the American metropolis, according to the New York Times which reports official police data. But thanks to the iGotYa application it is possible to track the thief.

New York, the Apple iPhone is literally "selling like hot cakes"

It will no longer be the best-selling smartphone, but it certainly remains the most stolen. In spite of the Samsung, according to the latest data, has surpassed Apple in the world sales ranking, the iPhone remains the most coveted smartphone, a cult object to be obtained at any cost, even to steal it from some legitimate owner.

In other words: perhaps Apple's sales have fallen to the advantage of those of its Korean rivals precisely because many people "would like to but can't". But the iPhone is always the most coveted object: the New York Times Indeed, he discovered consulting the New York police files, that the iPhone is currently the most stolen object in the Big Apple.

Compared to 2010, the theft of electronic equipment in the American city has increased by 17%, and more and more iPhone owners are paying for it: five out of seven mobile phones stolen on the subway carry a bitten apple on the back. Could it be because of the high costs?

Thefts usually take place on the subway, to be precise, but also while the owners are walking around the city or stopped at a traffic light.

But Steve Jobs, perhaps, had also foreseen this: there is in fact an application on the iPhone to report the thief to the police. Is called iGot Ya (translatable: I caught you, I caught you) and is a software for which if someone tries to unlock the mobile phone that has just been stolen and the password is wrong, the application takes a georeferenced photo with the front camera and sends it to the email address of the rightful owner, who can thus file a complaint with the police.

The only problem is that, for some reason, iGotYa is not available on iTunes but only installs on jailbroken iPhones, i.e. those on which the protections imposed by Apple have been deactivated.
