Neva Sgr (Intesa Sanpaolo) launches a fund for Italian startups

Is called Neva First Italy the new investment fund set up by Neva Sgr, venture capital of the Intesa Sanpaolo group, dedicated to the Italian market and 100% subscribed by the FoF VenturItaly fund of funds and the Mise co-investment fund entirely managed by Cdp Venture Capital Sgr (70% of CDP Equity and 30% of Invitalia).

The objective of Neva First Italia, which will complement the Neva First fund created last year, is to invest in high-tech Italian companies, deeptech and fintech, undergoing strong growth and expansion.

"The subscription in Neva First Italia is strategic for the strengthening of the deeptech and fintech sectors, still not very covered by Venture Capital in Italy but very present in the proposal of young companies with high potential that must have the ambition to become international champions", he comments Enrico Resmini, managing director and general manager of Cdp Venture Capital Sgr. “We are pleased to be alongside Neva Sgr in the launch of this fund which will give new impetus to innovation in these investment segments”.

“The collaboration with Cdp Venture Capital Sgr – he explains Mario Costantini, managing director of Neva Sgr – will allow us to enhance investments in the domestic market and accelerate the development of our portfolio. The Neva First Italia fund will act in parallel with our first fund, Neva First, which can count on a total endowment of 200 million euros and a funding target of 250 million by 2022. Numbers that allow us to give a strong boost to the venture capital sector, which is growing more and more in Italy”.

In managing the fund, Costantini will be supported by Antonio Chiarello with the same role of Key Man.

“Belonging to the Intesa Sanpaolo Group and the synergies with the various business areas of the bank allow Neva Sgr to be able to count on extensive professional skills, a strong network of relationships with companies and institutions and consolidated know-how on the digital transformation of the financial sector and on the transition of the economic-productive system towards sustainable and inclusive models”, explains the company in a note.
