Controversy is raging in the Democratic Party but Renzi goes ahead and today meets Berlusconi on electoral reform

The harshest controversy is raging in the Democratic Party but Matteo Renzi is going straight and this afternoon he will meet the leader of Forza Italia, Silvio Berlusconi, in the headquarters of the Democratic Party to discuss electoral reform. The minority inside the Democratic Party does not want to hear about it and, together with the government allies, threatens not to vote on the electoral reform and to blow up the Goveno. But Renzi has no intention of giving up and wants to seek an agreement with everyone on the electoral reform to get it approved by Parliament as soon as possible.

Renzi tries to reassure both the internal front and the government allies who fear being overtaken by a Renzi-Berlusconi agreement on their heads: "I'm sure that if an agreement is reached with Berlusconi on the electoral reform, this will also suit Alfano" .

The secretary of the Democratic Party is also trying to soften the controversy with Prime Minister Letta by calling him "very good" in foreign policy after Thursday's dry rejection of the 10 months of government.

In any case Renzi wants to accelerate and on Monday the ranks will be pulled in the direction of the Democratic Party, convened to give the go-ahead to a definitive proposal from the party on electoral reform.
